Our multidisciplinary Design Team is therefore growing and we are looking for an experienced creative leader to join us as Device Design Lead and play a key part in shaping the future of healthcare.
The position
As our new
Device Design Lead you will hold a key creative leadership role within our innovation-focused Design Team. Reporting to the Head of Design, you will be leading multi-disciplinary project teams to shape future patient-facing holistic treatment solutions. You will be working closely with colleagues from multiple design disciplines, user research, usability, engineering, innovation management and key partners across the broader organisation focused on commercial and manufacturing perspectives of healthcare innovation and product development.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Drive user-centred innovation activities that help shape the future drug delivery solution portfolio.
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams by setting a clear UX ambition across multiple projects of varying maturity.
- Help to develop Novo Nordisk’s design and innovation practices and the processes which anchor them.
- Provide internal and external thought leadership.
The role will be based in our design studio in Hillerød (just north of Copenhagen).
About you
You are a creative leader with an ability to think and operate strategically to set aspirational visions and creative direction for multi-disciplinary project teams. An inspiring human-centred problem solver, you innately understand the importance and approach of shaping the understanding of human context and behaviour into solutions that bring value to people and society.
This strategic perspective is allied to a passion for the craft of design, a keen attention to detail and the finesse with which product solutions are executed.
You flourish working within a busy environment and are a natural collaborator who is comfortable working with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders within a large organisation that is constantly growing and evolving.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, we expect you to:
- Hold a Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree in industrial design or related design discipline
- Have 10+ years of experience working in industry as a designer as part of in-house or consultancy design teams, including 5+ years of demonstrable creative leadership experience (e.g. leading multi-disciplinary project teams etc.)
- Have a rich portfolio of work demonstrating the breadth of your problem-solving skills, design touch and the ability to deliver products from concept to market
- Have experience of working in the healthcare, medical or pharmaceutical industry
- Have experience of working on holistic product solutions that combine physical and digital touchpoints, electronics, packaging, graphic design and user communication
- Have proven multi-dimensional design skills:
- An expert understanding of designing physical products and associated interactions – from concept generation and divergent problem-solving, articulating meaning through form giving, and implementation of design intent through to production
- A thorough grasp of the digital product design process
- A solid understanding of user research and usability and how to utilise insights to drive the design process
- An ability to engage stakeholders with absorbing and relevant storytelling
- Excellent visual communication skills and an appreciation of graphic design
- Have experience of planning and facilitating workshops and creative sessions
- Be fluent in English (written and spoken)

The Novo Nordisk Design Team is part of the Delivery Solutions Innovation (DSI) area within Novo Nordisk Devices & Delivery Solutions, an organisation responsible for the development of human-centred solutions for medical self-treatment within all business areas of Novo Nordisk.
DSI is a diverse team of over 150 experienced professionals – designers, researchers, engineers, scientists, and prototyping specialists, focused on multi-modal healthcare innovation – from connected injection devices to regulated software products.
