Government Affairs Specialist (Fixed Term) [Poland]

Microsoft is recruiting a professional to manage its corporate affairs work in Poland on an interim basis and based on a fixed term agreement (term: up to 14 months), being part of Microsoft’s Corporate, External Legal Affairs team (CELA) team which is supporting Central Europe. The professional will act as adviser and partner to the business on corporate, government and industry affairs issues. The successful candidate will work as part of the Central Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMA) CELA team that includes government affairs professionals as well as attorneys. The candidate will report to the CELA Subsidiary Lead for Central Europe and work closely with the commercial attorney who is based in Warsaw as well as other government affairs professionals based in multiple countries in Central Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, orchestrating and implementing, in partnership with the Government Affairs Lead and other key stakeholder groups in the Company, the strategy planning with the aim to positively shape the debate and public policy outcomes on issues important to the ICT industry.
  • Working in close partnership with the Company’s public relations team to develop effective internal and external communications strategies.
  • Assists with planning, organizing, and/or executing internal/external events by developing content, drafting materials, and engaging in social media.
  • Working closely with the Polish Microsoft leadership team to keep them well informed on public policy issues, debates and trends and providing proactive advice on the impact and relevance of these issues to the Company’s businesses.
  • Assist Microsoft stakeholders to be a leading voice for the Company and building and strengthening the Company’s relationship with industry partners, trade associations, advocacy organizations, multi-lateral organizations, and industry coalitions to more effectively shape and advance the industry’s position on important public policy issues.
  • Identifying new and emerging regulatory issues that may affect Microsoft’s businesses in the region. Coordinating with internal and external legal and non-legal expert resources, as necessary, to help analyze and address such issues in the implementation of the company’s business strategy.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field
  • OR experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, or government.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in working within a multi-national company and/or relationships with key government officials.
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with key government officials.
  • A strong understanding of business issues and thinking.
  • A proven record of cross-group collaboration.
  • Excellent written and spoken Polish and English.
