Smart Claims is a Third-Party Claims Administrator for restoration contractors. We are a boutique shop for contractors starting or with experience in the industry. We assist contractors focus on what they are good at while we focus on what we are good at – paperwork, details, and negotiating their invoices with insurance companies.

Job Description:
Job Title: Claims Handler
Work Location: Remote
Department / Division: Collections / Follow Ups & Negotiations
Time Requirement: 40 Hours / Week
Term: 3 months contract and the possibility to be renovated to full time
Training: 40 Hours (1 week)
Trial Work Period: 1 month (internal review will be done to ensure competency)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Claims Handler is proactive in following up on the status of claims In Process and negotiating invoices to clients’ standards to promptly close clients’ files.
- Receives and makes phone calls promptly
- Receives and responds to emails promptly
- Responds to requests for information promptly
- Updates Airtable with any updates and new information
- Updates Dropbox with new documents received
- Negotiates cases
- Sends discounted invoices
- Sends demand letters
- Sends other communications as necessary
- Communicates effectively with team members
Experience Requirements:
The Claims Handler should feel comfortable working in a remote setting, able to work independently, and is comfortable receiving and making phone calls.
- Must speak and write fluently in English
- Must be comfortable with negotiating
- Must be a team-player
- Must be able to listen first, then respond to the best of their ability and Smart Claim’s standards
- Must be able to be flexible in negotiation standards, but tough in asking for the numbers that we need/want
- Must be able to deescalate conversations with adjusters (if needed)
- Must be professional in communications with team members, clients, customers, and insurance companies
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, customers, and insurance companies
- Must be able to adapt to different priorities
- Must be able to find solutions to problems that arise
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
- Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of given instructions
- Computer proficiency (Browsers, Search Engines, Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
