Job overview

Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly recognise the importance of Talking Therapies for our community, and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is investing substantially to improve care. It is an exciting time to join the IAPT team as we expand to deliver a high-quality psychological therapy service which is forward thinking and innovative. We are recruiting Counsellors/Psychological Therapists with skills in the practical application of NICE recommended modalities - Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD/CfD), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) or Couples Counselling for Depression, Interpersonal Psychotherapy. The post holder will work offering one of these NICE recommended modalities as part of a team of Counsellors/Psychological Therapists in the Talking Therapies service.

Training in a NICE recommended counselling modality is essential if the candidate does not already have the required training. Training (if required) will be arranged by the Talking Therapies service, run alongside the post through the learning provider, require course attendance and clinical supervision, submission of competence based video recordings.

Candidates are required to hold, at a minimum, an Advanced Diploma in Counselling that has included a placement of 80 hours plus, to ensure that they are equipped to undergo the specific modality training and work independently in the team. The post holder must be Accredited or working towards accreditation with BACP or UKCP.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within our Talking Therapies service. You will be an experienced counsellor and must hold a recognised counselling qualification, accreditation and have experience of working within the field of mental health. You will be expected to assess, formulate and implement NICE-recommended modalities of counselling. As a Counselling/Psychological Therapist you will be working with individuals experiencing low mood/depression. All Talking Therapies counsellors/psychological therapists, are required to deliver high quality services through the use of routine outcome measures, evidence-based treatment, electronic record and data management systems. participation in clinical and management supervision. The post holder will be responsible for providing time-limited counselling to those service users who meet the service referral criteria. The duration of counselling interventions will be in accordance with the Talking Therapies national guidelines and service expectations
